{I've Got a Brand New Mantel!}

Woot Woot! I've got a brand new mantel!! Woot Woot! I'm always SOOO jealous of all you lovely ladies who post your gorgeous decorated mantels! We don't have a fireplace, so therefore, no mantel.  But then, I saw that Layla was hosting a Mantel Party as part of the Home May'd Summer Linky Party and I decided I HAD.TO.PARTICIPATE!

So, I BEGGED guilted my sweet, kind, adorable and incredibly talented Uncle John to build me a mantel out of scraps from his shop.  You're never going to believe what he gave me out of his "scraps".

Yup, yup! Isn't he brilliantly talented! I know, I'm a pretty lucky girl!  Anyway, let's share my gorgeous mantel's journey, shall we?

Step 1. Invite your Uncle over for dinner and convince him that the giant empty space over your ginormous tv needs a "mantel".  No Uncle, not just a shelf, a MANTEL

Step 2. Have him build it and send your brother over to help you hang the cleat thingie for it

that's my brother checking for studs...surely there's a better way to do that, right?

Step 3. Have said brother screw board to wall.  Post photo on Facebook and tell everyone it's your "redneck mantel" {have gullible friends actually believe you}

Step 4. Putty the nail holes in the mantel {can you believe my awesome Uncle sent me an UNfinished mantel!, I know, right!}

Step 5. Paint the GORGEOUS masterpiece! {don't take any pictures of that step because you're awesome like that}

Step 6. Hang it on the wall and decorate!

WOOT WOOT! I've got a gorgeous Mantel y'all!

Bear with me, I may or may not have taken a few zillion pictures of this beauty!

I'm not sure why I didn't take a full shot, this beauty is HUGE! Like 4 feet long and nearly 2 feet wide! She's awesomely large, I LOVE it!

I can't wait to decorate it for all the holidays! Thanks Uncle John! You're the best!

please do take a full picture. I'd like to see it over the tv. And at Christmas time, you can put a video of a "fire" on the tv and then you'll have your "fireplace". :)

It does look very nice. I think you might want to make that special uncle of yours another dinner. Might as well invite the brother too. :)

That is awesome! We don't have a mantel either and I've considered doing something similar, but I just don't know where. I can't believe he made such a beauty from scraps!

How beautiful -- lucky you to have a custom mantel. You decorated it so well, too :). (Honestly, knocking on the wall beats those stud finders :/). Hugs, Kim

Can you send Uncle John to our house for a few projects? He did a wonderful job. Now we expect to see the mantel decorated for all seasons. Thank you for sharing this at my party.
Hugs,
Sherry
