I'm so excited about this project! I don't live near the beach {anymore} so when I decided I wanted to play with driftwood, I asked my BFF's awesome StepMom, Rhonda if she would pick up some driftwood for me on her weekly beach hike. Being the SUPER awesome person she is, she said yes and hiked home with POUNDS of wood and mailed them to me! So Rhonda, thanks for all YOUR hard work! Without YOU this project wouldn't even have been possible!! You Rock & I heart you!
 |
| I matched up pieces of wood, one piece for the bottom "boat" part and another piece for the "pole" part. |
 |
| Then I drilled a small hole {about the size of the "pole" piece so it would fit together easier. |
 |
| I used Gorilla Glue to hold the two pieces together. |
I didn't take pictures of the next step, but I basically cute pieces of drop cloth and hot glued them to the "pole". Easy peasy and super fabulous! AND, this was a thrifty project too! Wood = free, Drop Cloth, already on hand = free!
So what do you think? Are you going to run to the beach to pick up some driftwood so you can make your own sail boats?

Love the boats! I miss living super close to the beach. A friend of mine would collect driftwood, when I went over her to Apt there was always drift wood drying the tub :)
Hope you have a great day!
Ok, so what's the cute rug beneath the boat project?! I want one!!
this is probably the easiest of all the driftwood tutorials out there. I always love the look of them but never have been up to taking on the project. Thank you for sharing.
I love that you referenced StepMonster, and have no doubt she will love it too. I love that Holly noticed the rug cause I always seem to notice random things in pictures. And last but not least, I LOVE the boats!! They came out adorable. You are such a talented crafter buddy!
Love these...i was wondering what you were up to with all that driftwood...I could have gotten you some too...I live near the river ;) Anyway..those are to cute for words and look great on the mantel!!
Super cute! I need one for my boys' room!
This is so great! I love the idea. I wish I had an ocean near me just for this reason! Well, it would be nice to hear the waves, too...but still! I love it, great idea!
Gah! These are AWESOME!!! I love driftwood and my boys were *just* saying that we need some boats on our beachy mantel. I'm totally making these.
